Frequently Asked Questions
Are my company’s IT RISKS being adequately addressed? Has your business addressed these important issues?
Is there more than one person trained to support our computer network? Are we confident that our in-house staff has the broad experience and knowledge to insure that our network is secure from viruses, hackers, Trojans, etc…. . Is our company information secure from both external and internal threats? If we lose our network administrator do we have a contingency plan in place?
How would Alpha’s augmentation services benefit my business?
Alpha Engineering provides businesses with certified Microsoft or Novell network engineers to assist and work closely with a client’s in-house IT staff. With an assigned Engineer visiting a client on a regularly scheduled basis many seldom completed but important tasks are wrapped up. These may include; developing complete network documentation, performing a network security risk assessment and report findings to management, fulfilling IT positions when in-house staff is not available, updating all systems with the latest patches.
What if our business already has an internal technical support staff?
Alpha will augment a business’s current in-house staff or we can provide a total out-sourced service solution. Many of our clients do have someone on staff that handles the day-to-day technical challenges and minor problems associated with maintaining a computer network. A client typically uses us for the most critical network support functions such as server maintenance, troubleshooting, projects, security and advanced support.
Are we the right size for a Proactive Support Program?
Alpha’s Proactive Network Support Program is tailored for organizations by the number of computer nodes at a supported location. Generally, our plans are geared towards organizations with at least 10 computers, although we do support smaller organizations with custom options. Enterprise clients benefit from our augmentation services.
Does my organization really need on-site network support?
Yes! A business’s network resources include desktop PCs, printers, file-servers and communications equipment. These are all a vital part of a business. A common misconception is that a network should ultimately run "error-free" by itself or that when something does go wrong, a quick fix is all that will be required. Some companies are even selling the idea that they can manage your business technology simply from a remote data center or through the Internet. The truth is, as with any critical business system, adequate preparation, personalized support and rapid service response is really the only answer. Alpha Engineering’s Proactive Network Support, with frequent on-site “check-ups”, ongoing system validation and rapid response from a Certified Engineer who knows your network, is the only way to lessen the impact of a technical failure and minimize or eliminate potential network downtime.
What happens once we enroll in a Proactive Support Program?
You can expect to meet a highly competent network engineer and receive great customer service! We’ll start with an initial kick-off meeting where you will be introduced to your primary network engineer and Account Manager. We will perform a “start-up” in which we will spend a short amount of time learning your network environment in detail. We’ll ask you for a list of outstanding technical projects or perceived deficiencies that we may need to address immediately. We will make initial technical recommendations and suggest improvements, all with the objective of quickly stabilizing your network. As soon as your network is operating reliably, we will settle into a managed ongoing proactive support mode.
